Glenn Elliott | 1941 - 2017

Stratford Festival News Item, November 23, 2017

Sad News

We were grieved to learn today of the passing of Glenn Elliott, a highly esteemed member of our Props department for 36 seasons.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Glenn served in the U.S. Air Force before finding his true calling as a visual artist. Graduating with a BFA from Sam Houston State University, he worked at the Alley Theatre in Houston before coming north in 1969 to build props here at the Festival. In 1988, he was promoted to Senior Props Builder, the position he held until his retirement in 2007.

Glenn’s work for the stage inspired him to employ a variety of techniques and media in his own personal artwork, which he exhibited in such venues as Agora Gallery, Village Studios, Gallery Stratford and Gallery 96, among others.

Glenn had an extraordinary talent, and our city is left the poorer for his passing. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, his colleagues and his friends.

Antoni and Anita

Friends are invited to a Celebration of Glenn Elliott’s life, on Thursday November 30th, 7:00pm, at the Dominion House, 3 Guelph St, Stratford, ON N5A 3W6.

Come and share you memories.
