Valerie Hawkins | 1968 - 2019

Staff Announcement from Anita and Antoni, February 5, 2019.

We were very saddened to learn of the tragically early passing on Saturday of Valerie Hawkins, a member of our company in 2013. Valerie played Shaindel (and understudied Yente) in that season’s Fiddler on the Roof, as well as appearing in Romeo and Juliet.

Although those were her only stage roles at the Festival, Valerie was very involved in our community. In 2016, she shadowed Jillian Keiley on Bakkhai and also contributed valuable services as a volunteer. She had been meant to rejoin us this season as assistant director of Private Lives but had to withdraw because of her illness.

Our deepest condolences go to Valerie’s partner, Roy Lewis, and to all her friends and family. A celebration of her life will be held next month.
