PAL Canada | 150 Years, 150 Great Artists

Note from Sarah Drake:

We have been asked to nominate artists for the Gallery of 150. I am positive that PAL Stratford on its own could populate the whole 150, using the criteria attached, so it should be easy for us to come up with several names for consideration.

Each name nominated needs a short bio to be written for display on the website.

Where do we start? Who can help out with a few bios?

Right off the top, I'm saying we will pretty much have to nominate Christopher Plummer because PAL Toronto has already got William Shatner on the list.

Also rather obvious (well, to me anyway) that it should come from us:

  • William Hutt
  • Richard Monette
  • Timothy Findley
  • Brian MacDonald
  • Bob Ihrig
  • Bill Needles
  • Desmond Heeley

And that's the tip of the iceberg... haven't even started with Loreena, Annette, Martha ...

Please read the instructions below to be clear on the citizenship requirements etc.

Eagerly awaiting your responses!

Sarah Drake

PAL Canada invites you to celebrate 150 Years, 150 Great Artists.

For the past 150 years, Canadian artists have represented us internationally, serving as cultural ambassadors. From the world famous to emerging talents, they have expressed Canadian values to the world, qualities such as inclusion, acceptance, and love.

Now, on the occasion of Canada's sesquicentennial, PAL Canada Foundation has launched a nation-wide campaign to pay tribute to the distinguished achievements and contribution of these celebrated artists.

We are inviting you to nominate and vote for your favourite artist. To nominate a candidate, please provide PAL Canada with a testimonial (maximum 150 words) outlining the reason for your choice, and how the nominee meets the criteria. Criteria and guidelines can be found at:

Nominees will be viewable on our website, OneFiveZero.ca, where Canadians from coast to coast to coast will be able to vote for their favourite artist. When voting closes on October 1, 2017, the artist with the most votes will be named PAL Canada’s OneFiveZero Artist of the Year.

We hope that you enjoy our campaign, and look forward to receiving your nomination very soon!

Show your Canadian spirit with #PALCanada’s #OneFiveZero.ca Artist of the Year! Vote/Nominate at http://bit.ly/2qUaKmh #CDNTopArtist now!
