Bill Gosling | 2017

Stratford Festival News Item, April 7, 2017

We were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of staff member Bill Gosling, in his 11th season as a member of our stage crew.

A very talented sound engineer who could often be spotted behind the Avon Theatre sound console, Bill was passionate about theatre – and musical theatre in particular, for music was another of his enthusiasms. His constant good humour and happy disposition made him a pleasure to work with.

This season, he was working on HMS Pinafore and The School for Scandal, productions that benefited immensely from his talent, care and love of the theatre.

He passed away peacefully, with his partner Michaela and son Liam at his side, following a sudden illness. Our thoughts are with them, with his son Rowan, and with all his other family members and co-workers at this very difficult time.

There will be no funeral, but in accordance with Bill’s wishes, a "big, musical, joyful party" will be held in his honour at a later date. Details will be announced as soon as they become available.

Our production of HMS Pinafore, already dedicated to Richard McMillan, will now be co-dedicated to Bill.
