Perhaps best-known for her role as Emma Leroy in the hit CTV comedy series Corner Gas, Wright, 71, was a member of the Festival company for seven seasons, shining in a number of key roles and as a director.

    We’re very sorry to share with you the news that Al Tufford passed away on June 30, after a brief battle with cancer. Al first joined the Festival in 1999 and served as a stationary engineer with us for the past 18 seasons, supporting the installation and maintenance of our heating and cooling systems, and taking great care to manage the conditions in our facilities.

  • Brian Bedford Memorial | July 17, 2016

    He has been described as “one of the defining geniuses of the Stratford Festival.” Brian Bedford was also widely known as the voice of a cartoon fox and, to a much lesser extent, as a devotee of the Lions Pool in Stratford.   • Celebration of life of William Needles to be held April 17 at Stratford Festival Theatre

    A cast of theatre luminaries will take the stage at the Stratford Festival next month in a celebration of the life of acclaimed actor William Needles, who died at age 97 in January. Speakers including Colm Feore, Geraint Wyn Davies, Benedict Campbell, Seana McKenna, Lucy Peacock and Jon Lovitz, by video, will be part of the event on Sunday, April 17, at the Festival Theatre. The tribute will also include performances by Loreena McKennitt, Gerald Isaac, Berthold Carrière, Nicholas Van Burek, Trent Pardy, Roger Shank, Jesse Aaron Dwyer and Jean-Michel Le Gal.

    Dates to remember: Drop off items at 101 Brunswick on Tuesdays, May 3, 10, 17, 24, between 10:30 am till Noon and Wednesdays, May 4, 11, 18, 25 between 10 am till Noon.   • Monette Archives & Chalmers Collections at PAL Stratford

    In April, the entire Floyd S. Chalmers Theatre Resource Collection and the Richard J. Monette Archives were moved from The Stratford Public Library to PAL Place Stratford. Since then, Amanda Ryan has been sorting the books in the collection and putting them on bookshelves at 101 Brunswick.
